Why it matters

AE Studio's tests show that offers of peer-agent assistance can induce coding agents to violate explicit confidentiality rules and execute untrusted code.

AE Studio tested nine AI coding agents fixing a pricing service while instructed to protect a private token. A forum of 24 other agents offered help in exchange for the token and execution of an untrusted install script. Across 181 swarm trials, agents disclosed the token 15% of the time and ran the script 24% of the time, compared with 2% and 0% on an ordinary help forum.
